You have arrived at the right space, if you are looking for a holistic approach to Yoga and a comprehensive wellness experience.
We are all in search of happiness. Little do we realise that happiness is already with us, within us.. Unlike the fleeting moments of joy that depend on other people or circumstances this HAPPINESS is free, abundant and always at our disposal.
The practice of Yoga gives you the opportunity to recognise and connect with this happiness.
So, what is Yoga ?
Yoga ,from ‘yuj’ the Sanskrit root word for ‘union’ is one of the 6 Vedic philosophies. There are numerous definitions for Yoga in different texts and multiple paths or Margas.
Traditional Yoga was taught and studied with the ultimate goal of Self- realisation also called Moksha. It was not limited to one text or just Asana and Pranayama. The study was diverse and extensive. The practice was lived and experienced. Yogis spent their lives immersed in this journey to the true Self.
Modern Yoga, although largely based on traditional Yoga, is different.
We live in a society that requires us to play many roles and actively take part in the rat race that world is. The goal of self- realisation is quite an intense stretch for a lot of us (pun intended). The Yoga we practise now mostly has a fitness & wellness goal. Which is not wrong, mind you. However we cannot completely ignore the roots of the practice. What we can do is strike a balance between the reality of the world we live in and our Yoga journey, and make conscious effort to live the practice off the mat as well.
Sukha’s approach to Yoga is based on these definitions of Yoga:
Yogah samatvam uchyate - Yoga is equanimity
Yogah Karmasu Kaushalam- Yoga is excellence in action
We believe a yogic approach to simple things can transform your life.
For example, you do not have to suppress displeasure. Instead, find a pleasant way to communicate it.
When you take up a task, focus on and enjoy the process. Put in your best effort without obsessing over the result.
Why choose Sukha Yoga ?
We are all at different stages of our Yoga journey. Our physical, physiological and psychological needs are different and to become aware of those needs is the first step.
Here is where Sukha Yoga & Wellness comes in and gladly so ! We are here to guide you through your journey of Yoga and identify a practice that suits you and your lifestyle best. You can do a lot or just a little, as much as you are ready for, but consistently and that makes all the difference.
We are excited to be part of your journey !
Sukha Yoga’s mission is to make holistic Yoga practice available, accessible and affordable for everyone. We know Yoga can change lives. Our approach will, encourage more people to take up the practice, help create a growing community of practitioners and offer a safe space to learn and share.
To learn, live and share the practice and find Sukha in the process.
Values:
Discipline: Motivation is easy to find and easier to lose. What we need to meet our goals in discipline. Staying consistent with your efforts on and off the mat is a sure way to get where you want to be. Do what you need to do to be where you want to be.
Surrender: We must learn to trust and have faith in the practice. Surrendering to the process, appreciating small wins and learning from mistakes will make the journey enjoyable. Progress over perfection always.
Compassion: Have compassion for yourself first and it will automatically flow through you to others. How you think, speak and behave when you are with yourself will come through. Everyone has a different journey and story. Compassion and empathy brings on level ground.
Gratitude: Have gratitude in abundance for the abundance. Count every blessing and focus on what is going for you. Appreciating abundance attracts more of it.
Community: Be there for the people around you. Share what you have learnt is great way to give back to the community. We come and go alone but the journey is more joyful when shared. Your Sangha plays an important role in your growth.
